Home Retail Group is the UK’s market leader in the home and general merchandise market, with sales of almost £6bn in the last financial year. They sell products under two distinctive and complementary brands – Argos and Homebase, both household names in the UK. Argos sells general merchandise and products for the home from over 700 stores throughout the UK and the Republic of Ireland. They even have an online store for Spain which delivers to mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands.
26% of Argos’s sales are taken through the internet. Four million customers order either online or over the phone and around two thirds of the population, have an Argos catalogue at home. They also offer an audio CD version of their services, with a selection of products.They’re also working hard to reduce the amount of resources they use and the amount of CO2 emissions they produce. The online store offers over 30,000 products with brands such as Apple and ACER for computing, Sony and Samsung or LG TV’s and Nikon and Canon in Digital SLR Cameras.
The site is very easy to browse. You can search for a product by word, by catalogue number or by browsing through the various categories. You are then given further options to browse by price, screen size (if it’s t.v. or computer) and by brand. You can choose from a wide variety of products; everything from garden & diy, to toys, games and even home entertainment.
Once you select a product, you can use their stock and store locater, to see if the item is in stock at at store in your area. Some items are home delivery only and some items you can collect yourself from a nearby store.
Prices are competitive and they have a special category labelled, “latest price cuts”. They also offer credit, although the interest rate is very high. So you can buy now and pay later, if you really need to. Some items are buy now, then start to pay in 6 or 9 months time.
For the more tech savvy, Argos even have an iPhone app – so you can shop from virtually anywhere.
Another great service they offer is the ability to create a Gift List, ideal for couples planning a wedding or for people organising special anniversary or birthday events.

They have a 30 day return policy. If you’d like to return something they’ve delivered give them a call and they will collect it for free or simply return it to one of their stores.
