Lodging
The acommodation at Bluestone Wales is self catering – but you get towels and bed linen so you don’t have to worry about that. It’s quite well thought out. Couples stay in studios in the village centre, families book wooden lodges in the forest. The lodges are very well equipped and there are detailed instructions on how to operate everything. Quite a luxurious bathroom and lounge with flat-screen TV is included in the acommodation.
Eco credentials
Being in a national park it is easy to imagine it wasn’t easy to get planning permission and it shows in the way it is designed and operated. Bluestone is a car free zone, recycling is encouraged. Solar energy, sustainable construction materials, local food is all in the mix. Bluestone is carbon neutral thanks to the bio-mass energy centre. If you want to travel by train, the nearest station is ten miles away.
Customer Service
Friendly staff with a lovely accent. Example of the service – there wasn’t a mirror in the bedroom, only one in the bathroom. Phoned up for one and it arrived inside ten minutes. Restaurant service friendly and efficient.
Location
Bluestone Wales can be found on the A4705, near the small Welsh town of Narbeth. The 500 acre park is situated in forest with a lake and is within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Bluestone also is very close to Wale’s answer to Alton Towers – Oakwood. (Map below)
Value for money
This is not an all inclusive, guests get the (high quality) acommodation and unlimited use of the excellent swimming pool but food, cycle hire, excursions and everything can all mount up.
Overall Review of Bluestone Wales
If you are outdoors people you will love it. Bluestone is great for families thanks to all the activities and the great pool as well as the high standard of the lodges. Bluestone is also suitable for couples who will appreciate the cosy pub and nice finish of the studios and cottages in the village centre.
