BlueStone Wales Review

The acommodation at Bluestone Wales is self catering – but you get towels and bed linen so you don’t have to worry about that. It’s quite well thought out. Couples stay in studios in the village centre, families book wooden lodges in the forest. The lodges are very well equipped and there are detailed instructions on how to operate everything. Quite a luxurious bathroom and lounge with flat-screen TV is included in the acommodation.

Eco credentials
Being in a national park it is easy to imagine it wasn’t easy to get planning permission and it shows in the way it is designed and operated. Bluestone is a car free zone, recycling is encouraged. Solar energy, sustainable construction materials, local food is all in the mix. Bluestone is carbon neutral thanks to the bio-mass energy centre. If you want to travel by train, the nearest station is ten miles away.

Customer Service
Friendly staff with a lovely accent. Example of the service – there wasn’t a mirror in the bedroom, only one in the bathroom. Phoned up for one and it arrived inside ten minutes. Restaurant service friendly and efficient.

Bluestone Wales can be found on the A4705, near the small Welsh town of Narbeth. The 500 acre park is situated in forest with a lake and is within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Bluestone also is very close to Wale’s answer to Alton Towers – Oakwood. (Map below)

Value for money
This is not an all inclusive, guests get the (high quality) acommodation and unlimited use of the excellent swimming pool but food, cycle hire, excursions and everything can all mount up.

Overall Review of Bluestone Wales
If you are outdoors people you will love it. Bluestone is great for families thanks to all the activities and the great pool as well as the high standard of the lodges. Bluestone is also suitable for couples who will appreciate the cosy pub and nice finish of the studios and cottages in the village centre.

A brilliant holiday for our family in a beautiful part of the world.
The accommodation was superb (we had a two bedroom “Ramsey”) with great views. Nice to have wifi, dvd player and flat screen TV among other mod cons, even though we were trying to “get away from it all”.
It’s fair to say our whole family had a great time – kids made friends quickly which was nice and the parents appreciated the time and space a place like Bluestone offers.

Restaurant – Carreg Las – superb, we left it until the last day which was a mistake as it was great service and food

Trips – Oakwood park is “OK” for adults and great for kids! Tenby is a great day out if you get a sunny day – enjoy the beach and fish and chips, but there is amazing scenery on offer on the Pembrokeshire coastal paths.

Pool – We haven’t been to Center Parcs so can’t compare it, but others have said it’s just as good. It’s a “fun pool” by which I mean there are no lanes for proper swimming.

Lodge – spotless and well equipped.

Tips – Do a “big shop” from a supermarket.

All in all a great holiday and fantastic location, would be happy to take another holiday at Bluestone.

Bluestone Resort in Wales is a great outdoor based destination and perfect for older children. I have 2 boys aged 12 and 14 and was looking for a resort which had enough activities to fill a week without them getting bored for a second and Bluestone really fit the bill in that respect! There really is something for everyone from the great accommodation which is really stylish and utterly tranquil to the “Blue Lagoon” water park, activities and all of the great food available in the restaurants and cafes. The nearby theme-park “Oakwood” was pretty good too! At Bluestone there is almost as much to do during the evening as there was during the day such as a themed Caribbean night at the water park or entertainment available at the pubs which covered things like live music and quiz nights. We have been recommending Bluestone to all of our friends and family.

My wife and I had a weekend break at Bluestone Wales for our wedding anniversary and it was truly spectacular. Relaxing in pure luxury is of course the best way to spend a weekend! The cottage was a great starting point for our exploration of the Pembrokeshire area with lots to do in the surrounding countryside. During the weekend at Bluestone my wife enjoyed some of the spa treatments and I heard nothing but positivity about them! Activities wise when we weren’t relaxing in the beautiful countryside we got to grips with some off road driving, canoeing and even zorbing. There was such a huge choice of outdoor activities it was difficult to choose which to try out and get fitted into the weekend. The food at Bluestone really is “fine dining” and the choice is superb with restaurants with high quality delicacies, a bakery and a café.
