What’s Lindos Like?

Lindos is a classic Greek island destination in popular Rhodes. White houses, like sugar cubes are dotted on the mountain and the turquoise sea is always inviting. Labelled as a culture town, Lindos is one of Greece’s most famous villages – not because of the beaches – even though they are among Rhodes finest. It is the medieval fortress the Acropolis, a fascinating ruins high up on a 116 metre high cliff that makes Lindos the most visited area on Rhodes. There are many different eras represented – from the Neolithic remains to Rhodes Knights strong fortress walls. The Acropolis is within walking distance from the village.

There is more than the Acropolis to see when you are in Lindos. The old captain’s houses, for example, whose architectural style is a mixture of Arabic, Byzantine and Aegean architecture. Here you can get an exciting insight into how far the 1600-century sailors had taken out into the world and how much wealth they acquired.

Luxury Lindos

Luxury hotels in Lindos have in recent years opened and or been redeveloped to suit the most discerning customers and are helping to put Rhodes back on the luxury travel map.

The Lindos Mare is a case in point – enjoying a near perfect location for sunset lovers, the Lindos Mare is built into a cliff and has superb views of the bay. The best feedback we get about this hotel is the staff who are described as competent and service minded but not intrusive.

The Lindian Village situated in Lardos is another leading five star hotel with some wonderfully well designed features. The Lindian Village is a romantic Italian inspired resort in a relaxing setting perfect for a couples getaway or honeymoon.

Lindos Blu Hotel is a chic & stylish hotel built into a hillside overlooking Vlycha Bay. The smart and swish interiors have been planned to take full advantage of the wonderful views. The hotel which is the sister hotel to The Lindos Mare is newly opened and has been getting fantastic feedback. As an adults only hotel guests appreciate the tranquil ambience, spa and well-being facilities and of course the wonderful setting near popular Lindos.

Rhodes flights

The main day of departure to Rhodes (RHO) is Wednesday, although some flights are so late that it’s more like Thursday! The second main day of departure for Rhodes flights is on Saturday. If you can fly from an airport with both Wednesday and Saturday flights it should be possible to enjoy a 10 or 11 night duration holiday.
