Is MiniInThebox Reputable?

“Is MiniInThebox Reputable?”
“Is MiniInThebox Reliable?”
“Is MiniInThebox Legit?”
“Is MiniInThebox A Scam?”
“Experience With MiniInThebox – UK”

These are some of the questions people are asking online, and with prices as low as they are offering it’s easy to see why!
Bearing in mind that everything is offered with free shipping, the prices on offer at MiniInThebox are much lower than the UK high street and indeed UK webshops.

What You Need To Know
The biggest single thing to point out about MiniInThebox is that this is a company based in China.
For the last decade and even before that, goods produced in China have been imported into the UK by wholesalers and sold onto consumers by retailers. The next logical step, which is now occuring, is that Chinese companies are using websites to sell direct to consumers in UK and other countries. This process means very low prices are now accessible to UK consumers, but with the following drawbacks:

1) Postage is from a warehouse in China – delivery can take up to a month to reach you, so don’t order if you need your products fast (such as for Christmas or for a birthday present!). Note that express delivery options are available but that does come at a cost.

2) You may have to pay customs fees. Because the items are being sent from outside the EU, your purchases will be subject to import VAT. Learn more at HMRC.

The Good Stuff

1) The prices available are in general much cheaper than you can find in The UK.
2) There is a huge range of products – especially if looking for things like mobile phone accessories, gaming accessories and small gifts and gadgets.
3) Free shipping is offered on all products.
4) The company is listed on The New York Stock Exchange.

MiniInThebox Test Orders

We made three test orders from MiniInTheBox:
We paid with PayPal (PayPal offers extra buyer protection) and chose the cheapest (free) delivery option.
Order date: 1st September 2013, shipped: 7th September 2013, delivered: 8th October 2013. Verdict: Item as described and in full workking order. No extra customs fees levied.
Order date: 11th September 2013, shipped: 19th September 2013, delivered: 8th October 2013. Verdict: Item as described and in full workking order. No extra customs fees levied.
Order date: 11th September 2013, shipped: 19th September 2013, delivered: pending arrival.

In both cases, the items were as described. For full disclosure, you can see the items below.

Verdict So Far
Whilst one order is still pending delivery, the prices on offer are so low that we believe MiniInTheBox to be a good place to buy small gifts and gadgets when delivery times are not important. We reccomend paying via PayPal for extra protection should your goods not arrive. Moreover we do not advise buying expensive items from this website due to customs fees.
